Same skin that was broken, be the same skin takin’ over. Most things out of focus, view, but when you’re in the room, they notice you, ’cause you’re beautiful. Yeah, you’re beautiful. Them men, them gon’ fall in love with you and all of your glory. Your skin is not only dark, it shines and it tells your story. Keep dancin’, they can’t control you. They watchin’, they all adore you. If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told you.
Beyonce, Blue Ivy, Wizkid and SAINt Jhn paid homage to brown skin women in a song from “The Lion King” movie soundtrack. The song is called, “Brown Skin Girl”. This beautiful song inspired me to pay homage to brown skin women as well, by creating two video collages of gorgeous black women.
These videos includes images of public figures, ancient African Queens, images of ordinary women that were shared on the internet, and images of myself, my mom, my cousin and my aunt.
