TEAM AFRICA: Rio Paralympics 2016

2016 was a good year for Team Africa, at the Rio Paralympics. Team Africa managed to scoop an overall of 92 medals. Nigeria, Tunisia and South Africa were the best perfoming nations of the African continent. Nigeria scooped eight gold medals. Tunisia and South Africa scooped seven gold medals. Outstanding perfomances included Samwel Kimani Mushai from Kenya, Henry Kirwa from Kenya, Lauritta Onye from Nigeria, Luvy Ejike from Nigeria and 14-year-old Ntando Mahlangu from South Africa.

Here’s how each country perfomed:

• NIGERIA:
8 golds, 2 silvers, 2 bronze

• TUNISIA:
7 golds, 6 silvers, 6 bronze

• SOUTH AFRICA
7 golds, 6 silvers, 4 bronze

• ALGERIA
4 golds, 5 silvers, 7 bronze

• EGYPT:
3 golds, 5 silvers, 4 bronze

• MOROCCO:
3 golds, 2 silvers, 2 bronze

• KENYA:
3 golds, 1 silver, 2 bronze

• NAMIBIA:
1 gold, 2 silvers, 2 bronze

• CÔTE D’IVOIRE
0 gold, 1 silver, 0 bronze

• ETHIOPIA:
0 gold, 1 silver, 0 bronze

• UGANDA:
0 gold, 1 silver, 0 bronze

• CAPE VERDE:
0 gold, 0 silver, 1 bronze

• MOZAMBIQUE:
0 gold, 0 silver, 1 bronze
