My Woman Crush Everyday today, are the all-female crew which operated Ethiopian Airlines on 18 November 2015, and the all-female flight deck crew that operated Air Zimbabwe, on 13 November 2015. So, it’s not WOMAN Crush Everyday, it’s WOMEN Crush Everyday. 😉
On 18 November 2015, the Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Bangkok, Thailand was completely operated by a female crew. Captain Amsale Gualu was assisted by a female co-pilot, Selam Tesfaye, and by an all-female cabin crew and female ground staff.
“Here in the continent of Africa, we are lagging behind in women empowerment. Women are the continent’s greatest untapped resource. The decision to have a fully female-operated flight was primarily an opportunity to inspire young African female students to believe in their dreams”,
– Ethiopian Airlines CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam
On 13 November 2015, Air Zimbabwe also had a female operated flight. The flight from Harare to Victoria Falls had an all-female flight deck crew, with Captain Chipo M. Matimba assisted by Captain Elizabeth Simbi Petros. You go ladies!
