President Obama finished off his two-nation tour of Kenya and Ethiopia at the African Union (AU) Headquaters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 28 July 2015. He addressed 54 members of the AU, where he called for Africa to end the “cancer of corruption” and protect democratic rights. He also emphasized the importance of empowering women and girls in order to create better communities, something that he is clearly passionate about. He also urged the world to change its approach towards the African continent.
“It is time to put aside old stereotypes of an Africa forever mired in poverty and conflict. The world must recognize Africa’s extraordinary progress.”
